How quickly will you price the project for me?
If you use our Pricing Service we will have the project priced and all the costs, bill of materials and if needed tender documents back to you within 5 working days from your payment, or when you submit the plans - whichever is latest. However we do generally get most jobs back before this.
If needed we offer an express pricing service which takes only 24 hours, although there is an additional fee for this.
If you have a Schedule of Works to be completed, then this might take a little longer, but we will confirm when you need it back and ensure we make this deadline for you.
You can use the Price Doctor software to price the project yourself if you have the time. Obviously there is huge variation in projects but a typical single story extension can be priced in a couple of hours by a proficient Price Doctor user.
How much will it cost to price a project?
We follow a fixed structure for the cost of the work that we do. We charge a flat rate of £134.99+VAT per project, up to a maximum of 2 projects per Build. This is discounted to £99.99+VAT for subscribers. Get in touch with us to discuss subscriptions, but you do not need a subscription to use the Price Doctor Pricing Service.
We call a project an extension, a renovation, or a new build. There might be more than one project in a build, but we will only charge a maximum of 2 projects per build.
There are additional fees charged for Schedules of Works; £3 per item to complete or £60+VAT to prepare for a contractor to complete. Express pricing service (24 hour) is an additional £60+VAT or £50+VAT for subscribers.
A Single Trade project, a project which only involves one trade, is charged at £60+VAT or £50+VAT for subscribers.
How can I see what you have priced or check if you have missed anything?
We are unique in that we draw over the plans that you send us and for every calculation that we make you can see the measurements we have taken to get there. You will easily be able to see what we have missed or how we got to a certain number.
Once the measurements are taken we list all the components needed to every operation or task which we price. You will be able to see the price of the component (which we automatically update on a weekly basis for you) and the quantity we think you need. Both these figures can easily be amended if you think they need to be.
You can also update the mark up and profits which are applied to the costs.
At what stage do you need the plans, and what about subsequent amendments?
The earlier the better - early cost advice will save your clients and potentially yourself along of potential heart ache when they see the final costs.
We do all the amendments for free, and our experienced team of Quantity Surveyors will have a very good idea about the likely solutions so will really be very far out. We will outline the solution we have suggested for any changes will be clear.
To get accurate costs and if a schedule of Works is needed it will be preferable to have the construction drawings, but a very good idea of the costs can be achieved from planning drawings.
What can you price - can handle external works, finishes and schedules of works?
We can price all residential works and a lot of commercial or industrial works. The Price Doctor software is designed for use by our customers for pricing residential works, but our Quantity Surveying team can price other works also.
We price all kinds of projects, including those with non-traditional construction methods such as timber frame, ICF block and SIPS.
We can include and price for all internal finishes and external works, if sufficient information is included with the plans.
